Royal Caribbean International will make a major addition to its private Bahamian island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, which is currently "leading the charge" when it comes to demand and bookings, according to the company.
During the line's third-quarter business update, Royal Caribbean CEO Michael Bayley revealed that after pressing pause on destination projects during the pandemic, the line is now "reengaging on all of those plans."
Among them is an expansion of Perfect Day, which Bayley said was "leading the charge in terms of demand and premium for the ships that are operating out of South Florida already and ... New York."
In the near future, Perfect Day will get an additional area called Hideaway Beach, an adults-only experience set to open in late 2022.
"It will allow us to increase our capacity by approximately 3,000 people a day in late '22, which is obviously going to help improve our overall profitability and drive more revenue, both ticket and onboard," Bayley said.
"And we have other projects that we've now started to reengage with," Bayley said. "So I think our aspirations never really moved away. We just had to press pause for a while."
