Six Flags Entertainment Corp. this week announced its biggest investment in its parks in more than 10 years.

In 2024, the company said, it will add multiple rides, including three roller coasters and five attractions themed around the DC Comics franchises, and it will retheme or otherwise improve existing rides across more than a dozen of its parks.

"This investment is central to our strategy to create fun and memorable experiences for every member of the family and reinforces Six Flags' position as the leader in thrills," said Six Flags president and CEO Selim Bassoul.

"This builds on our recent efforts to offer new events and dining experiences by also introducing new rides for thrill-seekers and families, all while making improvements to many existing and popular rides."

At Six Flags Over Texas, log flume ride El Rio Lento will get a new lift hill and two drops, making it one of the world's longest log flumes.

The DC Universe land at Six Flags Fiesta Texas will get three new attractions: Rotating-arm ride Cyborg Cyber Revolution; a family friendly, rotating drop tower Shazam! Tower of Eternity; and the Metropolis Transit Authority, a monorail-style train ride around the land. The park will also retheme several attractions.

Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey will celebrate its 50th anniversary with boomerang coaster The Flash: Vertical Velocity. The coaster will move backward and forward at nearly 60 mph. Additionally, that park's Wild Safari Park will be home to the new Savannah Sunset Resort & Spa glamping experience, including tents, spa services and VIP dining.

Six Flags St. Louis will get the attraction The Joker: Carnival of Chaos, a giant, 17-story-tall disk that whips guests around at up to 75 mph.

At Six Flags Great America in Chicago, a 17-story pendulum attraction Sky Striker is coming.

Six Flags Over Georgia will be home to the first "ultra surf" coaster. Six Flags said its name is still being determined, but the coaster will launch riders forward and backward at 60 mph through a splash pool.

The Bobcat wooden roller coaster is coming to Six Flags Great Escape in New York. The family-friendly coaster will reach speeds of nearly 40 mph and feature tight turns, hills and curves, Six Flags said.

Six Flags America in Maryland, celebrating its 25th anniversary, will get a newly themed SteamTown area. The steampunk-inspired realm will include three re-themed attractions and the SteamWhirler, a family thrill ride.
