Sonesta International Hotels Corp. is planning its Dominican Republic debut, announcing that Royal Sonesta and James hotels are coming to Punta Cana.
The high-end lifestyle hotels will anchor a new mixed-use development called Larimar City & Resort. To be located approximately 25 minutes from Punta Cana Airport and 15 minutes from Bavaro-area beaches, Larimar will have residences, entertainment venues, a retail mall, dining outlets, a fitness center, a spa, a country club with 18-hole golf course, an outdoor sports facility and a kid-centric activity center.
The first phase of Larimar City & Resort is expected to be completed by late 2025 or early 2026.
The Royal Sonesta and James hotels will be Sonesta’s fourth and fifth properties in the Caribbean, joining the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Sonesta Ocean Point Resort all-inclusives in St. Maarten and the Royal Sonesta San Juan in Puerto Rico.
